You Are His and He Is Yours; Forever!

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

This post today has a specific, intended purpose for a specific person. But please don't take that to mean it is exclusive to her because it's not. Today's post is inclusive for every man and woman of Christ who needs to hear its message. It just so happens that am away of a struggle the wife of Mr. Cody Good, my brother in Christ, is going through and so I want her to know that I was thinking about her specifically when I wrote this.

I love that Paul starts this scripture with the words "I am convinced..." To me, these words show that he's not speaking just from something he heard or read but something he experienced. He was convinced because he was a man who had persecuted God's people for their belief in his son Jesus Christ. He was there, consenting, when Steven was stoned (Acts 8:1); he was a man who made havoc of the Church, entering every house and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison (Acts 8:3); he was a man who asked and received letters from the high priest to the synagogues of Damascus so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem (Acts 9:1-2).

In his own words, Paul was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man (i Tim 1:13); as a sinner he was chief (1 Tim 1:15). Paul was all of these things but yet he was convinced that nothing could separate him from the love of God; he knew that even after all the things he had done, once he confessed his sins, repented of those sins, and professed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, God had begun to shower him with his love and always would. And that is what I would like you to understand today Mrs. Cody Good.

I want you to know and be convinced that once you belong to God and his love is being shown toward you, nothing can ever change that. God loves you with a love that is perfect. It's without flaw, without deficiency; it has no lack at all. God's love in unconditional, unwavering, and unchanging. God's love for you is so huge that he sent his only begotten son to the cross to suffer an inhumane death (John 3:16). His love for you knows no bounds.

Do not let the devil convince you of something that isn't true. Don't let him tell you that because of the sins you committed in your past God doesn't love you and that you don't belong to the one who purchased you with a ransom. Nor should you let him convince you that the sins you may commit in the future can cause God to no longer love you. The only thing that can cause God to stop loving you, the only sin that is unforgivable is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (Matt 12:31). And I tell you this, I do not believe that anyone who loves the Lord will ever commit this sin.

Today, Mrs. Cody Good, I want you to know that God loves you with a love that is incomparable to anything you have ever felt or even imagined. I want you to know that he is always there for you and that he will never leave you on your own; I want you to know you are precious and cherished in the eyes of your God who gave the ultimate sacrifice of his Son so that he could love you in this regard.

And again, this message is not only for Mrs. Good. This message is for anyone who finds themselves questioning if God loves them, or if they belong to him, or if, because they have done somethings that man or the world tells them are unforgivable and unpardonable, they are really a Christian at all. As long as you have repented, the answer is yes. You are his and he is yours: forever! No one or nothing can ever change that. Paul, even having been the wretched man he had been (Romans 7:24), was convinced of this fact and you should be too. God has promised to love us and he cannot lie (Titus 1:2). So today, if you don't believe anything else you hear, believe that your God loves you.

God bless.
