How many of us realize that when we reach the end of us, when we get to our wits end, when we try and try and try and continue to try only to keep failing and disappointing ourselves and others, and finally throw our hands up, most likely in disgust and dejection, that that's when we really and truly find God. When we finally reach the point in our lives where we're exhausted, ready to give up, and unsure of how to go any further, is usually when we finally turn to God for His help. And I mean really turn to Him. Not the kind of "turning to" where we pray for help and then get off our knees and try to fix it ourselves. Or the kind where we pray and then put a time on how long we'll wait before we do it ourselves. I'm talking about the "IF I MAY BUT TOUCH HIS GARMENT, I SHALL BE WHOLE" kind of turning. When we effectuate the kind of turning to God that comes when we realize only He can do in our lives what needs to be done and get to the end of us and our efforts we'll find our God waiting for us. And so, knowing this, having experienced it for myself, and still having to experience it at times I declare that our word for today is STOP! Today we're going to stop trying to fix the things in our lives we're unqualified to handle. We're going to STOP pitting Band-Aids on wounds that are beyond infected and in need of expert treatment. Today we STOP our efforts, which, however good intentioned they may be, are proving to be futile. Today we STOP trying to do things on our own and actually let Jesus have an opportunity to do His job. But please understand that just because we STOP doesn't mean we become idle or lazy. Our prayer lives should explode, our praise should be joyful, our worship continual. We should be searching the scriptures daily, feeding on and being strengthened by the Word of God. We should seek the Lord's face and direction until He responds and when He instructs us to act, only then should we work. Get to the end of you, you'll love Who you find there.
