Times are only getting tougher. Many families and friends have been separated for half a year so far. Some have lost jobs and businesses. Some have gotten sick. Marriages, graduations, vacations, and the like are postponed or changed in fundamental ways. The church has had to adapt to fellowship. Some want schools to open; some want them closed. Both political parties think that the other is just ignorant. There seems to be a debate about who to trust: the president or science, republicans or democrats, these statistics or those statistics, this doctor or that one.
Learning who to trust is a lifelong lesson. It does not come as a surprise to me that in our society, represented by what's on television, I have recently heard the phrases "Thank science" and "If the science allows." These statements are just bold proclamations showing how this country and many others have methodically replaced God with science. I believe it is in everyone's best interests to follow the recommendations and laws made to keep people safe. I also believe that failing to do so is incredibly selfish. More important than what I believe is what I know: we should not place our trust in any man (Psalm 188:8-9) and certainly should trust the Creator of science more than our understanding of the creation. We should thank doctors, first responders, and other essential workers for their service but we must thank God for our life, health, and provision. We, as Christians must stand on the principles of God's Word not the principles of flawed political parties. The God who made the laws of science which we do not fully understand knows those who trust in Him "The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust in him" (Nahum 1:7). Trust in God.
Matt
