The choice Is Ours!

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you. (Psalm 56:3)
In this Psalm we see David, the Lord's chosen and anointed king of Israel, a man after God's own heart, make a conscious and determined decision that we also need to make if we already haven't. David determined within himself regardless of what battle he was fighting, who is opposition was; regardless of any circumstance he was going to trust in his Lord. Whenever he became afraid, he was going to counteract his fear with his trust.
Have you made this conscious and determined decision in your life yet? Have you purposed within your heart that no matter what happens, no matter how terrifying a situation might seem, how daunting a task may appear to be, or how utterly frightening the situation you find yourself in might be, that you are going to trust God? If you have not then let today be the day that you do.
Why? Because our God is trustworthy and he wants us to realize that. He wants us to trust in him, he wants us to be confident in the face of our fears asking questions such as "what can flesh do to me?" (v.4) or "What can man do to me?" (v.11) And he wants us to not only ask the question but he expects us to know that the answer is "nothing." He wants for us to know that there is nothing for us to fear when we belong to him and rest in his warm, loving, caring embrace.
God wants to be God in our lives but in order for him to do that we have to trust him. David trusted him; Noah trusted him; Abraham trusted him; Isaac trusted him; Jacob trusted him; Joseph trusted him; the list could go on and on through the great men and women of the Bible right up to the apostles, who all, except for John, suffered martyrdom for their God. Every great man or woman of God in the Bible became who we know them to be because they trusted God and that trust started with a conscious and determined decision.
We have an opportunity to make the same kind of decision today. Today we can either decide to continue allowing our fears to control us, or we can decide to trust in God, his Word, and the promises, assurances, and power provided in said Word. Today we can decide to be doers of the word, and not hearers only...(James 1:22) The choice is ours!
Prayer for today: Loving God, give us the faith today to trust you in the midst our our fears and enable us to be doers of your Word. Amen.
