Reflections #1:You Are Who He Says You Are!

Chosen, Beloved, Sons & Daughters, Joint Heirs With Christ, etc, etc, etc. The bible gives those of us in Christ many different names and descriptions. All of these names and descriptions are positive and empowering but yet I constantly find men who live contrary to the titles and descriptions given them by the Word of God. Not because they don't know who and what they bible says they are but more so because they don't believe what the bible says regarding them. I have learned that when a person has been one way their entire lives or, they are used to being told that they are nothing, and they're worthless, deep down inside they become convinced of these things. When a person has always thought of and referred to themselves as thugs, it becomes hard for them to shake that reality. Even when that reality doesn't really exist anymore. It took me a long time to realize and accept who I am in Christ, for me to realize and accept that I was so much more than what society had labeled me, what supposed friends had labeled me, what I had labeled myself. But this realization and acceptance only came when I began to believe the words written in the Holy Scriptures. To all those who struggle with their identity as a christian I want to encourage you to read your Bible and find out exactly who and what God says you are and once you do I want to encourage you to pray and ask God to show you how to live out the description the bible has given you and I assure you that He will. How do I know that? He's God, He's in the life changing business, it's what he does. But this is something you have to want, it has to be your desire, and you have to desire it in faith, knowing that God can and will do what you are asking. Brothers and Sisters in Christ; You are not what the world has called you, you are not what your friends or family have called you, you aren't even what you have called yourself. Who and what you are is who our Lord and Savior says you are period. God Bless.
