Reflection #6:Nothing Has Changed!

Writer's picture: Christopher McLaurinChristopher McLaurin

I know some of you may wonder how I can make such a claim in a time of such obvious change. I make it because I know, no matter how much everything around us changes, or seems to be changing, one irrefutable and undeniable truth remains. That truth is this, no matter what is going on, our God is with us. "BE STRONG BE OF GOOD COURAGE DO NOT FEAR NOR BE AFRAID OF THEM FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD HE IS THE ONE WHO GOES WITH YOU HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU." These were the words spoken to Joshua by Moses in Dt. 31:6, words meant to encourage and strengthen the newly appointed leader of the nation of Israel. They were an assurance, a guarantee, they were words of promise from an almighty, all knowing, all powerful God who's faithful to His promises. And guess what? NOTHING HAS CHANGED. See just because times and circumstances have changed I can assure you our God hasn't. He's still in the blessing business, still in the delivering business, still able to save, able to heal. He's still in the business of being God and still in the business of loving us. These words spoken to Joshua all those years ago have the same meaning and power behind them today as they did when Moses was speaking them. So today let these words be absorbed by our hearts and spirits. Let them be a source of strength in our weak moments, let them strengthen weak faith, let them be praises on our lips, let them be words we are convinced of and rely on. Let them be the reason we turn to our God in these times of trial and crisis because He is with us whether we can recognize it or not. Our God loves us, we're precious to Him, so precious that He sent His only begotten Son to the cross for us so we could have eternal life, so we could have a relationship with Him, so we could rely on Him and allow Him to be God to us. Our God has loved us from the beginning of time, He's promised to never leave nor forsake us and nothing has changed from then to now and nothing ever will.
