Reflection #11:Have You Praised Today?

Writer's picture: Christopher McLaurinChristopher McLaurin

So today is another day where most people have been confined to their homes. Another day where the pressures of this pandemic and the uncertainty of what lies ahead has the opportunity to weigh us down. Another day where financial burdens can get a bit heavier, where health scares and worries can intensify, one more day for frustrations to mount, and another day where it seems like nothing is going our way. But yet in the midst of all these things we have been blessed with ANOTHER DAY! A day that wasn't promised, a day where we were afforded the opportunity and privilege to stand in the presence of a Holy, Almighty, All Knowing, All Seeing God, who loves us with a love and passion that can't be described in words, only in action. An action such as the sacrificial offering of His only begotten Son to atone and suffer for our sins, to endure the harshest and most inhumane form of punishment for our transgressions, so that we could enter into a covenant relationship with Him and call out Abba, Father, in our moments of need, hurt, and despair. So I ask, on this day, have we looked past all of our "problems" and praised our God? Have we thanked Him for life? Have we thanked Him for the health we and our loved ones do have do have? Have we thanked Him for His ever constant provision, care, and safe keeping? Have we uttered the word Hallelujah, offering Him the highest praise possible? Not for anything He did but simply because He Is. And because He Is, we are. If you haven't then please, take the time to do so because we serve an awesome God who is faithful to His servants and is worthy of all praise. And I know that praising God may seem like a hard thing to do for some people during these times but please don't let your circumstances change your relationship with your God, let your relationship with God change your circumstances. Right now if you know your God is good, if you know He's awesome, if you know He's mighty and able, then give Him the praise He deserves.
