No More Shame

Writer's picture: Christopher McLaurinChristopher McLaurin

Today I'm able to openly and boldly thank and praise the Lord. I'm able to give Jesus the credit He deserves for the things He does in my life. Today I'm able to say, with confidence, that I'm Christian and to live for my Lord. Today I am able to say and do these things in front of any and everyone, not just other Christians. It wasn't always like this though. There was a time in my life when I was ashamed to show my faith and there were 2 main reasons for this. 1)I was scared people I wanted to be accepted by would reject me. 2)I was afraid to be different and viewed as different. I still wanted to be "cool". These 2 things crippled me spiritually for quite some time and I know there are others going through this, Christians afraid to be Christians outside of the church, whatever the reasons might be. Today I want to encourage you to break this chain of bondage in your life. How? For me, I had to stop caring. I had to stop caring about what people said, what they thought, and how they're going to react to or treat me. And I had to start caring about what my Lord and Savior thought, what He wanted, and how to accomplish that. This became my biggest concern. It took a lot of prayer. Prayer for strength, for confidence, for assurance. It took a lot reading and studying the Word. And it took continual acts of faith. Life was a boat in the sea, tossed by the waves, caught in boisterous winds and I had to be willing to step out onto the water and walk towards Christ who was continually bidding me to come. The more I did this the bolder I became in my faith. And now I'm a man who preaches and teaches the Word Of God. I'm a man who testifies to the greatness of my God. Now my faith and relationship with Christ is something I boldly demonstrate. Today I am ...NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST... because I know its the ...POWER OF SALVATION FOR EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES... Today, lets stop letting things hold us back. Step out on faith, step towards Christ and He will be there
