Moments Not Days?

Writer's picture: Christopher McLaurinChristopher McLaurin

When was the last time you had a bad day? I'm willing to bet most of us can pinpoint when this last occurred and what made it a bad day. But what if I told you that we as Christians shouldn't have bad days? Bad moments, yes. But not bad days. What if I told you that every bad day you have is really a burden of your own creation and nothing more than a bad moment left unchecked. Its true. Bad days spawn from us dwelling on the negative effects and consequences that bad moments produce either immediately or will produce in the future. Disagree? Recall your last bad day and the cause of it. It started as just a moment where something or someone angered you. A moment of hurt feelings, emotions, or pride. A moment where something important didn't go your way. No matter what it was it was just a moment. And because of the way it affected you and the effects it stood to have on your life going forward, it was a moment you dwelled on instead of looking to your Lord, focusing on Him, and surrendering that moment to Him. See, as long as you dwell on whats wrong your focus is off Christ and if your focus is off Christ then you've basically forgotten who and what He is. Jesus is our Hope, our Strength, our Joy, our Deliverer, our Refuge. He's Awesome and Able. He's Amazing. He's everything the Bible says He is, and since we know this to be true answer me this. How then can it be possible for us, regardless of what takes place, to consider any day to be bad. We who dwell in His presence daily, benefitting from all the things He is, being showered with His love, blessed with His grace and mercy, shielded by His hedge of protection, and empowered by His Spirit. How? Its not possible, unless you let it be. If, when those bad moments occur, you allow them be bigger, more powerful, and of more impact in your life than your Lord, that moment becomes your focus. Today lets stop dwelling on the moments and start dwelling on Christ during the moment. See how many bad days you have
