Let your light so shine before men... (Matt 5:16. NKJV)
The world needs the body of Christ more than ever. In a day and age where people have begun more and ore to rely on man and trust in things to fulfill their needs, someone has to show the that neither man nor things will ever be able to supply the fulfillment they're so desperately searching for. Someone has to show them that only God can fill the void in their lives, ease their hurts and mend their brokenness, and that someone is us, the very people who have been recipients of God's grace, mercy and loving care.
As Christians our lives should be walking, talking, testimonies, of the saving, redeeming, life changing, power of our God. It's our duty to show people, through our lives, what God is able to do. Christian is not just a title, it's a description, a very specific one. Almost everyone knows that our God is supposed to effectuate change in the lives of his people so that they have a distinct look about them. They know we're supposed to act and talk in a certain way. They know we're supposed to be loving, caring, compassionate, and filled with joy. When our lives match our descriptions we show people God is still in the life changing business which is something they desperately need to know.
So today, through our words and our deeds, let's show the world who our God is. Let's show them how capable he is, how trustworthy he is, how faithful he is. Today take a vow with me to let our lights shine so brightly that the power and presence of our God and the need for him in people's lives become so undeniable that sinners begin to give their lives over to him. Let your lights shine brothers and sisters because the world desperately needs to see it.
Prayer for today: Our Father, you sent your Son into the world to be light for the world. As Jesus' disciples help us to let our lights shine to the world to bear witness to our savior so that all may experience your love in their lives. Amen.
