Today I want to wish not only my mom but all mothers a Happy Mother's Day. Today I celebrate all of the mothers who are doing their best to make ends meet, to put food on the table, to clothe their children, and keep a roof over their heads. I celebrate those mothers who put the needs of those in their household over their own. Today I celebrate the mothers whose love knows no limits or boundaries, who stand behind and protect their children no matter what. Today I celebrate single and widowed mothers who do it on their own, I celebrate married mothers who always have enough love to go around. I celebrate grandmothers and aunties and big sisters and cousins, and next door neighbors, any woman who has assumed responsibility for a child and became a mother to them. I celebrate stepmothers who don't deserve to have the word step placed in front of their rightful title. I celebrate mothers who adopted or fostered so that a child could have a home. Today I celebrate you and in case no one else has done so lately I say THANK YOU! Thank you for being our rocks. Thank you for you undeniable, indescribable strength. Thank you for your selflessness. Thank you for loving us unconditionally and for being examples we could follow when it came time for us to love children of our own. Thank you for the lessons you've taught us and the wisdom you've imparted. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for being mom, ma, mama, mommy, or whatever name it is that your children call you. Thank you for being you.
And to my mom, I love you more than I could ever explain with words. I thank God for having blessed me with such an exceptional woman for a mother. Thank you for always being there, always having my back, and always considering me your priority. Thank you for all of your effort and prayers and for never giving up on me. I would not be the man I am today if not for you. Happy Mother's Day mom. You're the best mom ever!
