Believe #6: Our God Is Enough!

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness..." (2 Cor 12:9, NKJV)

In the last post of this Believe series, I want us to be of the most ironclad belief that our God is enough. "My grace is sufficient.." That's the word that Paul, who was trying to have God remove the thorn from his flesh, received. Now scripture is silent about what that thorn was, and I know different scholars and theologians have speculated and tried to deduce what it might have been, but I won't because it really doesn't matter. The "my grace is sufficient" assurance is not exclusive to the thorn in Paul's flesh, it's for everything in his life. The Lord didn't assure Paul that his strength was made perfect in the weakness product by the thorn, he promised him his strength was made perfect in weakness... period.

And since we serve a God who is unchanging, that same assurance stands for every one of us who are called by his name. Our God and his grace are enough for us in all situations and today let this be something we believe so much that people think we're crazy. I heard a man preach one time that "you have to believe God so much that people think you're crazy!" And he's right. If God said his grace is sufficient, then it is, and our belief in that should show in our actions.

In times of grief, times of need, hurt, desperation, sickness, and whatever else life may throw at you, don't fall apart. Rather, stand tall, finding the joy and peace promised to you in the word of God. Showing people that your God, whose grace is super abundant, is sufficient for you to be able to endure what others can't. Let people see your endurance in the times they know are trying or hard for you so that they might see how great your God is and desire him and his grace also.

Our God is enough. In fact, he's more than enough and he is incomparably better than any other option anyone could ever suggest or provide. He was good enough for the Apostles, the forerunners of our faith, all of whom endured and persevered through intense persecution, and all of whom, except for beloved apostle John suffered martyrdom. The sufficiency of God's grace was something each of them displayed until the day of their deaths, Let us follow their examples. Today let's stop focusing on the thorns in our flesh and focus on the grace of God which is able to bring us through the effects of those thorns. Today, if you believe that our God is enough and that his grace is sufficient enough to get you through any circumstance, then live that way and never look back.

Prayer for today: Gracious God, it is always hard for your children to not be in control of our own lives. Help us to accept the thorns in the flesh that we each bear and to trust in your grace and power instead of our own strength. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
