Believe #2: God has not forgotten you!

...I will be with you, I will not leave you not forsake you. (Josh 1:5, NKJV)

My prayer is that, after yesterday's post, anyone who found themselves acknowledging that they were struggling with unbelief in some area of their walk with God is on the path to being rid of it. Today our topic is something we always need to remember and believe. "God has not forgotten you!" I don't care what life's situations are telling you. I don't care what people may be telling you. I don't even care what you may be telling yourself in moments of weakness. The truth, one that we must constantly reaffirm to ourselves, is this: regardless of how things may look or seem, our God has not forgotten about us and never will.

People will forget about you. Family and friends, the people you thought cared about you the most, they may forget about you but God never will. Do you know how I know this? Because the Bible tells me so. God has assured us that he would still be with us and would never leave nor forsake us and I believe this to be the truth because our God cannot lie, it goes against his character. God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19, NKJV) If God said it, he meant it, and I believe it. And so should you.

When you've been praying for deliverance, for a release from whatever is keeping you bound, when you're crying out to the Lord but nothing seems to be happening, when you're wondering if God is hearing you at all because he hasn't answered in what you deem to be a timely fashion, don't get discouraged. God hasn't forgotten about you; in fact, while you're thinking he's forgotten about you, he's actually working out everything for your good. You want some proof that what I'm saying is the truth? Let's see what Jesus has to say about this.

Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12:5, NKJV)

God doesn't forget the sparrows and we are of more value than many sparrows. We're important to our heavenly Father, more important than we could ever imagine. We're his most prized creation, the objects of his desire and love; we are the reason he sent his only begotten son to tie on a cross. How could he ever forget about us? Today, take a few moments to just be still and know that God is God and I guarantee you will feel his presence. He's always right there and always working on your behalf even when you think or feel like he's not. So be assured on this day that even during the times where it seems everyone has left us to fend for ourselves, God hasn't.

Prayer for the day: Dearest Lord, remind us in the moments when we feel most alone that you are with us. You sent your son to be God with us, Emanuel; may we experience your presence and love always. Amen.
