A Post from Pastor Kathy.

"Be still, and know that I am God! (Psalm 46:10)
How often do you listen to God? Part of prayer is listening to God. I have found that very often the congregations I have served have been better at talking to God and telling him what we want than they have been at listening for his answers. I must admit that I am not much better. I have often said that I am like a Missouri mule: God has to hit me over the head with a two by four to get my attention. Psalm 46:10 is the verse that reminds me if the necessity of listening to God. There are many reasons for not listening God's answers to our prayers. Sometimes we are too busy telling God what we think is best for us; sometimes we are too worried or anxious to hear him; sometimes we don't like the answer we think he's giving. Psalm 46:10 reminds us that we are not God. We need to accept that we are not in charge, even of our own lives, and instead listen for and to the one who is God. One translation of the verse says "stop fighting, and know that I am God." When we stop fighting against God's will; when we are still and listen for his will and word for us, we are truly freed to be the people God has created us to be.
