SO JESUS STOOD STILL AND COMMANDED HIM TO BE BROUGHT TO HIM. AND WHEN HE HAD COME NEAR, HE ASKED HIM, SAYING "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU?"... (LUKE 18:40,41)
What an amazing question for a person to be asked by the creator and ruler of the universe. The Almighty, All Knowing, God in the flesh is offering this blind man His infinite, immeasurable help. What does the man do? He tells Jesus exactly what he wants Him to do in his life. " LORD, THAT I MAY RECEIVE MY SIGHT." And what does Jesus do? He gives the man exactly what he asked for and He's waiting to do the very same thing for us today if we'll just ask. And before you say "I have asked" I pose this question. Have you been specific in your asking? Or have you been vague. Has your prayer been one where you're simply asking for "help" or "deliverance" without saying what you want help with or deliverance from? And before you say "Jesus already knows what it is" allow me to offer this, Just because He already knows doesn't mean He doesn't want to hear it from you. I understand that some of the things we need Christ to fix in our lives are things that can be either too painful or shameful for us to verbalize and so we never utter them to anybody not even our Lord but that's exactly what He's waiting for you to do. Jesus is waiting for you to realize that you have no reason to be fearful or ashamed when you're before Him, He loves and cherishes you, you're His priority. He wants you to bring your issues before Him, wants you to be specific about what those issues are and what you would like Him to do for you regarding them. Why? Your specificity shows your faith. How? Well, it shows your Lord that you not only understand but truly believe He's more powerful than your issues, able to rescue you from them, and able to erase the feelings of shame, hurt, and embarrassment they produce. Our God is a specific God who deals intimately with the specific needs of His people. He's able, He's willing, and He's waiting!
