I was watching CNN this morning saw a man had started a petition to rename the city of Plantation, Florida. I've also seen similar petitions that have been started. People have been petitioning to have confederate statues torn down, and have the names of military bases changed, people are petitioning for all kinds of things right now as well they should. And today I say that we, the Church, should be petitioning too, We should be petitioning our God to change hearts. Racism, bigotry, prejudice, hatred, these are all things that flow from a persons heart and the only One who can fix a heart is God. Protests are necessary, activism is most definitely needed but without the change of peoples hearts this cycle of people being mistreated, disregarded, and excluded because of their skin color will continue on as it has been. So today I make this plea to the Body of Christ, pray and pray hard and often that God will change the hearts of those who believe a person to be inferior because of their skin tone. Pray that He would change the hearts of those who think the lives of black and brown people are expendable. Pray that the hearts of those who only like and accept people who look, think, and act like them. Pray for this because when this kind of life altering, God ordained change occurs it will permeate throughout our society. When change like this is effectuated, the people its effectuated in will then become agents of change. They will pass that change down to their children who will pass it to their children and so forth. And just like hatred and bigotry was passed from generation to generation equality will begin to be passed down. But in order for this to happen our God has to be the originator of this change. So, today let us pray often and fervently, let us do so in unity, being of one mind and spirit, praying in faith, without doubting, knowing that our God hears us, and let us patiently and expectantly for the change we know will be forthcoming. God Bless.
