"Do not be afraid; only believe." (Mark 5:36 NKJV)
Components of Belief#1
"Do not be afraid; only believe." This seems like such a simple command, but all know that there are times when life and it's circumstances descend upon us so swiftly and mightily that it makes believing easier said than done. It's time for that to change. It's time for us to stop letting fear affect us and simply believe. What do we believe? We believe that our God is, and that he is able. Today we declare that, regardless of the severity of any situation or circumstance, regardless of what any nay-sayer or non-believer says, we are going to believe without hesitation or faltering, and we are going to go ignore anything that goes against what God has spoken to us. Today, and every day after today, we are going to believe like Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue believed. To do that, we must take hold of and incorporate into our lives the components that make up true belief.

Component #1 be convinced. "...My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live." Jairus came convinced that Jesus could heal his daughter. The Bible tells us that the fame of Jesus, his power and his ability, had been spreading throughout the regions and obviously Jairus heard of it because he came. Not only did he come, but when he reached Jesus he spoke boldly, his words revealing just how convinced he was of Jesus' abilities.
Are we convinced? Do we believe the reports of Jesus' fame like Jairus obviously did? We should because we have something Jairus didn't: 2000 years of proof of Jesus' great work, his revealed word which is filled with convincing examples of his greatness, and if we think back, we have plenty of personal experience with out Lord and Savior.
So, if the Word of God is real to us, let that convince us. Let the times Jesus has done for us what we could not do for us convince us. However we do it, let us be convinced because it is necessary and the Bible tells us so: "And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." (NRSV) That we be convinced is a must; it is also the first component of true belief.
Prayer for the Day: Most Gracious God, fill us with your Holy Spirit that we may be convinced of both your presence and your power in our lives. We pray in the name of Jesus who came to bring healing and salvation to earth.
