"I follow rules as long as they don't inconvenience me, when they begin to that's when I start living by my own rules." These words were spoken by a "christian" man earlier today. When he uttered them he was speaking in regards to the rules here at the prison which have been set by the powers that be but the way he conducts himself regarding the rules of the prison is the same way he conducts himself regarding the commands of God. This man is a convenient or conditional christian. As long as he isn't pulled out of his comfort zone or asked to do something that might call for actual devotion or sacrifice he is fine being called and even calling himself a "christian" but the moment he is required to actually live according to the Word of God he makes up his own rules and lives according to them. According to the Word of God the man or woman who lives like this is no christian at all. How many of us know someone who lives their life like this? How many of us live like this ourselves? Today I would like for us, believers, those who have professed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to take a hard look at ourselves and in a moment of total and brutal honesty admit whether we are guilty of living like this. If not, praise the Lord. But, if we are then let us immediately repent and dedicate and devote ourselves to the One who is responsible for our entire being. Let us not forget that the bible calls us the light of the world and tells us to let our light shine before men so they can see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. (Matt 5:14, 16). Its our duty to show the world what a Christian really looks like but we can't do that if we're living a life of convenience or conditionality. So, today, let us examine ourselves and if something or some things needs to change then let's be honest with ourselves and let's get serious about our God and let's change them. Today let us determine to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age. God Bless!
